bambhook
bambhook is a modular wall hook designed to fit in the visual aesthetic of tacchini. its form directly references a bamboo stalk, with the hooks mimicking its leaves. the design process for this project heavily involved analyses of sustainable approaches and manufacturing, and emphasized the use of precious plastic, a project that recycles plastic, giving it new life.
TACCHINI
tacchini is a luxury italian furniture brand known for its elegant, organic furniture.
the brand has a particular commitment to sustainability, with a "zero miles" approach that limits their carbon emissions.
PRECIOUS PLASTIC
precious plastic is a program that promotes the process of reusing and recycling plastic waste to create products.
they offer diverse programs, machines, and even business counseling, encouraging the usage of recycled plastic.
the bambhook is modular; its body uses the repeated form of a simple hollow extruded tube which can fit onto one another to create "stalks" at any length that can fit any individual's needs.
each joint between each body piece holds a hook. various types of hooks exist, with the ability to hold anything from a heavy winter coat to a small ring of keys. once a system of hooks is constructed, it is easily mounted to any nail or screw through the mounting hole in the back.
because of its simplicity, the product can be easily manufactured using simple extrusion and line-bending techniques. its modularity also allows for parts to be easily replaced if damaged. these processes, along with its usage of Precious Plastics, minimize its carbon footprint.
